Hyundai Joins Other Automakers in Launching High-Powered EV Charging Network
It’s about to get a whole lot easier to charge an electric vehicle in the Sacramento and Rancho Cordova areas–and throughout North America. Hyundai, alongside the BMW Group, General Motors, Honda, Kia, the Mercedes-Benz Group, and Stellantis NV, has announced plans to expand EV ownership and accessibility by creating a North American network of high-powered charging stations. Get all the details from our team at Folsom Lake Hyundai.
A More Convenient EV Charging Experience
The aim of this wide-ranging project is to increase the appeal of EV ownership to those still driving gasoline-powered vehicles while ensuring a next-level charging experience for current EV drivers. Using public and private funds, the project will accelerate the installation of at least 30,000 high-powered charging stations across North America.
Stations will be built in urban areas and along highways to guarantee the greatest amount of access. Each station will include both Combined Charging System (CCS) and North American Charging Standard (NACS) connectors, in addition to restrooms, restaurants, and retailers either onsite or in the nearby area. Whenever possible, canopies will be built over charge points for customer comfort. And, in keeping with all seven automakers’ sustainability goals, every station in the network will be powered by renewable energy.
To boost the convenience factor even more, the services of the charging network will integrate with participating automakers’ in-vehicle and in-app functionalities. You can reserve a charge point, plan and navigate your routes, and make payments using supported vehicle technology.
The first charging stations in the United States are slated to open in the summer of 2024. Canadian charging stations will follow shortly thereafter.
